Celebration
2024 was filled with such wonderful celebrations, each one contributing to our story in meaningful ways.
BIRTHDAYS!
Two of our long-time board members have fully embraced the term “a lifetime of service.”
SPENCER FOX ECCLES
A universally respected community leader, and “Utah Man, sir,” Spence Eccles is a symbol of business acumen, leadership and generosity across the state. As the Board Chair and CEO of the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation for over four decades, he has dedicated his life to improving the lives of his fellow Utahns. His unwavering energy and kindness were on full display as he celebrated his milestone 90th birthday this August at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
ROBERT M. (BOB) GRAHAM
For more than 50 years, long-time board member Bob Graham has been a trusted counselor to three generations of Foundation leaders including George, Spence, and Lisa Eccles. His knowledge, work ethic, and charm make him a legend in his own right! Bob – who still comes to the office every day – celebrated his 94th birthday in October.
OTHER NOTABLE MOMENTS
UTAH BUSINESS AWARD
Our President and COO Lisa Eccles brings a personal and thoughtful approach to grantmaking. With the Foundation for over 30 years, she studies every grant, asks the hard questions, and identifies how the Foundation can make the most positive impact on the people of Utah. Her generosity and leadership earned her a spot as one of 2024’s 25 Most Influential Women by Utah Business Magazine.
2034 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
On July 24, 2024, the International Olympic Committee gave Utah its best Pioneer Day ever, awarding the 2034 Winter Olympic Games to Salt Lake City. With more than 80% of Utahns in support of bringing the Games back to Utah, along with our world class venues, unmatched volunteer spirit, and the greatest snow on earth, our bid was the obvious choice. The Foundation’s directors are thrilled to join with our entire community as we welcome the world back to Salt Lake City!
