Message from the Chairman

Legacy.

It's not a word we take lightly around here.

From an early age, I learned about the profound legacy of my grandfather, David Eccles. A pioneer, politician, banker and industrialist, he was a titan who founded more than 50 successful businesses during his lifetime. But even as his prosperity grew, he never forgot the poverty of his youth and did what he could to help others in need.

As a family, we admire his role in building the West and, just as importantly, we honor his values of integrity, ingenuity, perseverance, and generosity.

These values were passed down to my Uncle George and Aunt Lolie, remarkable community leaders who also loved this state and her people. And today, I along with my dear fellow board members, Bob Graham and my daughter Lisa, are doing our darndest to continue that tradition of helping the people of Utah thrive!

In every way, our Foundation strives to uplift, educate and benefit individuals and families throughout the state by working with nearly 400 capable and caring nonprofit partners. It's been a joy to see the impact their work is having in communities across Utah. How a new University of Utah hospital in West Valley City will expand access to much-needed health care and lift an entire community. How the Utah Food Bank mobile food pantry is supporting families in Fairview. How RISE Culinary Institute is opening doors of opportunity to refugee and immigrant women. And how so many are tackling some of our state's toughest challenges including protecting the Great Salt Lake.

We are honored to partner in these efforts and more. I truly believe my grandfather would be proud of the work being done to support the people and communities he loved so dearly.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to the vision that has guided us for generations, the reach of our impact, the stewardship that defines our work today, and the legacy that we continue to build together. And as I always like to say, "the best is yet to come!"
